Product News: High-Voltage Divider: KOA launches new series MHVD

Japanese resistor specialist KOA is set to launch a component for the precise measurement of high voltages. The voltage divider, called MHVD, is based on thick-film technology and will enable precise voltage measurements of up to 1.500 volts. Division ratios ranging from 1:100 to 1:500 can be achieved.  In the best-case, absolute and relative resistance tolerances of 0.25% are possible; the temperature coefficient (TCR) for both resistive elements is specified at 50 ppm/K, and for the relative TCR, a value between 25 and 50 ppm/K can be selected. The dimensions are 11.5 x 7 x 4.3 mm (LxWxH).

Samples of the MHVD will be available starting in April 2026. Mass production is scheduled to begin in July 2026. The MHVD offers a more cost-effective alternative to the HVD, which has been available for some time. While the HVD, which uses thin-film technology as a voltage divider, enables even more precise measurement of high voltages, this level of precision exceeds the requirements for some applications. In such cases, the MHVD can be used. Like almost all KOA product series, the MHVD series will also comply with the requirements according to AEC-Q200.

Of course, KOA has also considered the issue of creepage distances; for further information, please send an email to Robert Cleve.
